Explore Our Services

AOR’s EDI consulting services are tailored to each organization’s sector, goals, audience, and capacity. Organizations can begin with one focused service or combine several forms of support as part of a broader equity initiative.

Workshops and Training

AOR offers customizable anti-oppression and EDI workshops led by experienced professional facilitators. Sessions are tailored to each organization’s sector, audience, learning goals, and existing knowledge.

Workshop topics include anti-oppression foundations, inclusive and anti-oppressive language, anti-racism and cultural safety, accessibility and disability justice, 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, human rights, policy development, and organizational change. The current Workshops page already includes more than 25 topics and can remain the main training hub.

Equity Scans and Equity Action Plans

An Equity Scan is a comprehensive review of an organization’s policies, practices, culture, and systems through an equity and anti-oppression lens.

AOR works with organizations to identify systemic barriers, understand employee and interest-holder experiences, highlight existing strengths, and identify opportunities to improve equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Findings can then be translated into an Equity Action Plan containing priority recommendations, short-, medium-, and long-term actions, timelines, responsibilities, measures of success, and accountability strategies.

Policy Development and Review

Policies shape access to opportunities, decision-making, accountability, workplace culture, and how fairly people experience an organization.

AOR reviews and develops policies through anti-oppression, equity, accessibility, and human rights lenses. Support may include reviewing existing policies and procedures, identifying barriers and unintended effects, consulting with employees or community members, recommending revisions, drafting new policies, and creating accessible plain-language documents.

Policy areas may include human resources, recruitment, accommodation, accessibility, respectful workplace practices, equity and anti-racism, governance, complaints, community engagement, and service delivery. The current website also describes this service as guidance on creating and revising EDI-related documents.

EDI and Anti-Oppression Consulting

AOR provides consulting support to help organizations examine barriers, strengthen equity and inclusion, and plan meaningful organizational change.
Consulting areas include:

  • Anti-Oppression and EDI Anti-Racism
  • 2SLGBTQIA+
  • Inclusion Disability
  • Inclusion and Accessibility
  • Truth and Reconciliation

These areas can be presented as sections within one detailed consulting page initially. Your earlier research identified EDI and anti-oppression consulting as a high-priority commercial page while recommending careful, accurate wording for specialized areas.

Employee Engagement Surveys

AOR designs and facilitates employee engagement surveys with an equity lens.

These surveys go beyond measuring general satisfaction to examine how employees experience belonging, inclusion, psychological safety, accessibility, fairness, leadership, communication, professional growth, and organizational culture.

AOR supports survey design, confidential administration, demographic and equity-based analysis, reporting, leadership presentations, practical recommendations, and action planning. The existing website already describes this service as implementing and analyzing employee engagement surveys through an equity lens.

Who We Work With

AOR supports organizations across Ontario and Canada, including:

  • Municipal governments and public agencies
  • Nonprofit and community organizations
  • Healthcare organizations and community health centres
  • Colleges, universities, and school boards
  • Foundations
  • Professional associations
  • Leadership teams, boards, employees, and volunteers

Each service is adapted to the organization’s size, sector, context, goals, and capacity.

A Collaborative and Evidence-Informed Approach

AOR’s work is collaborative, evidence-informed, and grounded in anti-oppression.

Depending on the service, an engagement may include surveys, interviews, focus groups, policy and document reviews, accessibility reviews, organizational culture assessments, quantitative and qualitative analysis, facilitated learning, recommendations, action planning, and implementation support.

Rather than offering generic recommendations, AOR works alongside organizations to develop practical approaches that can be implemented, evaluated, and sustained over time.
